Upaul Majumdar is currently the General Manager at Soaltee Crowne Plaza Kathmandu, Nepal, the LSG Flight Services Unit, Kathmandu and working for the Intercontinental Hotel Group. He took charge of the hotel operations in July 2015, right after the massive earthquake in Nepal and during his tenure of over three years, he was able to turn around this 50 year old hotel and make it the highest turnover and most profitable hotel company in Nepal. The Company Soaltee Hotels Ltd., is a public limited company and currently the shares trade at a 2500% of its face value on the Nepal Stock Exchange.

Upaul brings his knowledge of the Nepal hospitality market, the real estate asset perspective as well as a strong understanding of the airline catering business, which will all benefit towards the overall growth and success of the hotel company. He is a Commerce and Hotel Management Graduate and holds a MBA Degree with specialization in Marketing from Institute of Management Technology, Ghaziabad.

Upaul has more than 30 years of experience in the hospitality industry with significant expertise in the hotel operations & marketing. Prior to his current role, he was the Chief Executive Officer at Hotel Annapurna Group which owns three hotels in Nepal in the luxury segment. He started his career with Oberoi Hotels as a management trainee and has gained experience with catering and hospitality in India, Nepal & Bangladesh. He also did a stint with JetAir and Air Canada in a regional leadership role in North India in 1993-94 and spent a considerable 16 years in consulting for Service Quality and Luxury Marketing with Upgrade Management Services (P) Ltd., in India and did assignments spanning Telecom, Retail, Healthcare, Hospitality and Airlines.
